travel north america united states new mexico

I really enjoyed our visit to Chaco Canyon because we almost had the whole place to ourselves.
I don't know if it was the long dirt road into the ruins or the time of year we visited, but it was a delight being able to visit these ruins almost by ourselves.
Under these conditions, it was possible to actually feel what it might have been like to have lived here so long ago.
It was also nice that there was good access to the ruins with no fences and barriers.
I could see that this access might change in the coming years with more people visiting.
